About WMAS
The mission of WMAS (pronounced Wah-mass) is to bring together accordionists and promote accordion music in the National Capital region.
We meet at 2 pm during the winter months and 4 pm during the rest of the year on one Sunday every month at Sleepy Hollow United Methodist Church, 3435 Sleepy Hollow Road in Falls Church, Virginia. Get directions to the church

WMAS Membership Dues Policy
Annual membership dues as of January 1, 2024, are $30 for individuals and $45 for families. For WMAS membership purposes, a family is one or two adults and their children under 18.
New members joining in the first six months of the year will pay $30 individual/$45 family. New members joining in July through November will pay $20 individual/$30 family. New members joining in December will pay $30 individual and $45 family for the following calendar year.
The membership chairman will collect the dues at the meetings and will keep records of when each member joined WMAS, along with contact information for the member directory. Members also can directly mail in a payment by check.
For those members who are unable to attend any meetings in the first quarter, we will send an email or surface mail, reminding them that their dues are payable.
To cover the church's costs to host us, we ask everyone to contribute at least $2 at each meeting.
WMAS Guest Artist Policy
WMAS brings in two guest artists annually, usually one in the spring and one in the fall. These are musicians from outside the DC area to whom we offer a stipend to play a concert and sometimes also present a workshop during our regular meeting. We do not pay a travel, food, or housing allowance, but often we can arrange for guest artists to stay with one of our members. Guest artist concerts are a member benefit. We ask nonmembers to pay a small donation at the door to attend guest-artist concerts.
Of course we are open to everyone, and we warmly welcome out-of-town musicians to attend any of our meetings, to play in our frequent open-mic-type concerts and events, or to perform (on a pre-arranged basis) a short set during one of our meetings.
If you are interested in performing a guest-artist concert for us, please contact Peter DiGiovanni.
Thanks, and we looking forward to hearing from you.
WMAS Rules Regarding Mass Emails
In general, WMAS sends out mass emails twice per month: a reminder about a week before each meeting, and an update afterwards. Occasionally, there will be an extra mass email to correct an error, report a cancellation, or the like. In addition, during the end-of-year holiday season, WMAS will send out emails regarding holiday concert rehearsals and concert planning.
If you would like to include an announcement of your accordion-related event, please send the COMPLETE information to [email protected].
IMPORTANT:
Please include all pertinent information in the body of your email:
Depending on the volunteer webmaster’s availability, your event may also (or instead) be posted on the WMAS website.
The above rules do not apply to gig announcements.
If you are in search of an accordionist for an event, or someone contacts you about a gig and you can’t take it, please send all pertinent information to [email protected]. WMAS will send out an announcement to the performers on our list. Please remember to include contact information, as WMAS does not want to broker these gigs.
